Talking with Granny

This recording is a talk with my beautiful grandma who I love more than anyone else. My family emigrated from Odessa, then a part of the Brezhnev-era Soviet Union, to Brighton Beach, a famous Russian neighborhood in southern Brooklyn, in 1975. When I was growing up, food was always a big part of my life because it was a part of the connection I had with my grandma and because it was simply delicious. Chicken cutlets were always my favorite. Consequentially, I have wondered about my grandma’s relationship with food and also where she picked up her delicious recipes. In this interview, I speak with her about her history with food, how she picked up some of her recipes, and her relationship with food as a whole. — Roland
