JetBrains

JetBrains offers several industrial-strength tools for software engineering, and they provide free licenses for academic use. Here are the ones I use frequently:

• WebStorm, a development environment for Node.js (and general Javascript)
• pyCharm, an IDE for Python
• PHPStorm, a development environment for PHP projects

There are several other tools available. I’ve been impressed by the quality of their software, and you can’t beat the price. You can get one educational license that covers all of their apps at the JetBrains site.
