10 Buick Street: $85/night
We have negotiated a special conference rate for an apartment-style, air-conditioned University residence hall at 10 Buick Street. Each apartment consists of four single-occupancy bedrooms, kitchen, common room, and two bathrooms. The apartments offer complimentary coffee and a 24-hour business center. They are also just steps away from the Buick Street Market and Café and BU Fitness and Recreation Center. The rooms are relatively new and many feature a lovely view of the Charles River and downtown Boston. Historically, the Buick Street Market and Café (within the building) is open from 7 am to 4 pm, Monday through Friday during the summer. However, the following coffee shops are also located within a close walking distance:
- Starbucks (874 Commonwealth Ave.)
- Dunkin’ Donuts (1020 Commonwealth Ave.)
- Caffè Nero (1047 Commonwealth Ave.)
- Blue State Coffee (957 Commonwealth Ave.)
- Pavement Coffeehouse (736 Commonwealth Ave.)
- Starbucks (775 Commonwealth Ave.)
Rooms at 10 Buick Street are complete with bed and bath linen and amenities. Kitchens are not stocked with utensils or other kitchenware. Housing is first come, first served. Reservations are refundable if more than 30 days in advance of the conference.
Fitness and Recreation
Rates for conference guests at BU FitRec are $12/day, or $38/week. If you wish to utilize the FitRec Center during your stay, you may visit the FitRec front desk after checking into 10 Buick Street to purchase a pass.
All conference participants are welcome to use BU’s Guest wireless network, on any devices. Instructions for logging on may be found here.
Housing reservations may be made directly via BU Events & Conferences. You may request to share a suite with friends by making a note in the “special requests” box on the payment page; however, both persons must make the request to ensure the housing assignment. If you reserve your room via phone, you must mention that you are attending the NIME6 conference.
For guests seeking to stay in Boston before or after NIME6, please refer to our list of recommended Boston hotels.
Accommodations for Families with Children
For those attending with small children, we highly recommend booking a nearby hotel because the dormitory-style housing at Buick Street is not convenient for families, and cribs are not available for infants. Booking a hotel will cost approximately the same as renting two dormitory rooms per night at Buick Street, which would be necessary since rooms have only single beds. We recommend booking your hotel early for the best rates.
If you choose to book rooms at Buick Street, please keep in mind the following. Children old enough to require their own bed will need a separate booking. Please make it clear in the special request box that you wish to share a suite with your child. You will need to do so on both your booking as well as your child’s. Also, please e-mail Tawnya Smith so that we can double-check that you are placed in the same suite with your child. If you plan to share your room with an infant, there is no need for a separate booking, but you will need to provide your own crib.
