Connecticut Community Health Workers: How Can You Help with Substance Disorders? November 15, 2017

In early 2017, NEPHTC offered its first training for Community Health Workers on substance use in Massachusetts, receiving outstanding evaluations.  The course, entitled “Understanding Substance Use Disorders and Models for Supporting Recovery” will be offered in again in November of 2017 in Connecticut.

Participants will learn to:

  • Describe the disease model of addiction and a holistic approach
  • Describe the Multiple Pathways of Recovery
  • Describe and Utilize the Stages of Change Model
  • Identify available SUDs resources at the community level
  • Understand Stigma and their roles in addressing it
