Content In these documents, there are detailed records of committee meetings and the messages they sent. Every village community has a committee of an elder, treasurer, and other officials. The first one details the minutes of a meeting that took place in the Gongoore community of Fuuta Jalon.  It has a message to Dakar’s Gongoore community, thanking them for a 50,000 francs CFA donation to build a mosque. It was sent to all committee members to thank the village. The elders, men and women, and young people, all receive gratitude.  The money taken from the account is written down in order to keep track of whom it is allocated to and for what purpose. The second letter lets the Dakar committee know about the inauguration date of the mosque in March. It also informs them about the need for prayer mats.  If they are able to send the mats and money, they are told, God will bless them back. A letter from August 14, 2005 records the accounts of different villages in Guinea.  This document keeps track of where the money goes and who has contributed.  Two letters, one from October 23, 2005 and another from December 17, 2000, each depicts the community meeting to gather funds for the celebration of Laylatul Qadri (The Night when the Quran was  first sent down to the world). A letter written on October 4, 2006 addresses another holiday celebration, Mawlid al-Nabi (The Birthday of Prophet Muhammad). Details of the items bought at the market are tabulated meticulously. Whatever is purchased is brought before the committee and recorded.  This letter urges the community to get ready for the celebration with funds and participation. The final letter is from the Ayngel Billiryaaɓe committee to the Bomboli committee. The community’s mosque, which is very old, is in need of renovation, and the letter provides guidance as to how money should be distributed. The Bomboli committee is reminded that religion is for everybody. Anyone who is a believer is welcome to contribute. Ayngel Billiryaaɓe asks for necessary materials in executing this task. All such resources must be taken to the committee leader.
