These scholars lived in different regions of Fuuta Jalon, as some of their nicknames indicate. They specialized in a variety of subjects and produced important texts in prose and poetry dealing with various religious and non-religious subjects. During their lives, they trained numerous generations of students and scholars in Fuuta Jalon, and had a significant impact in spreading Islam and strengthening Islamic practice. Their legacies and influence endure in Fuuta Jalon and in Fula communities in Africa and the diaspora. |
