Andrea E. Mercurio, Ph.D.
Dr. Andrea E. Mercurio is a faculty member in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences at Boston University. She earned her Ph.D. at George Washington University in the area of Applied Social Psychology. Her research focuses on the effects of eating and exercise habits on mental and physical health outcomes as well as understanding how the media and other social factors relate to body image and well-being among young women.

Research Interests: Body dissatisfaction and its effect on mental and physical health, particularly in females. As an economics major I am also interested in research on the psychology of decision making in businesses. I hope to pursue my master’s degree in the field of behavioral economics.

Annemarie Jagielo

Research Interests: Health-related behaviors and motivations. Research experience includes: exercise for treatment of anxiety related disorders and depression, female’s attitudes towards exercise and body image, and misperceptions of caloric estimations on negative health-related behaviors, including obesity and heart disease.
