Postdoctoral Researchers

PhD Students

PhD students contribute to research to investigate mechanisms underlying osteoarthritis and development of innovative rehabilitation interventions. The students will enroll in the PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences program at BU Sargent College. This position is fully funded and includes a stipend as well as tuition and fees. The PhD program offers outstanding opportunities for motivated candidates to build an inter-disciplinary skill set that will position them to embark upon a successful research career.  Please review the program’s admission requirements

In addition to the requirements described above, additional strongly preferred qualifications for these positions include:

  • physical therapy or research-based Master’s degree
  • prior experience with biomechanics research, clinical musculoskeletal research, and/or rehabilitation research
  • GRE scores > 50th percentile at the minimum

Application deadlines for Fall admissions are usually on January 15th. 

Our lab is equipped with a 3-D motion capture system, multiple force platforms, wireless EMG system, IMU devices, and a strength testing dynamometer for the study of biomechanics. The lab also offers opportunities to develop hands-on skills with mobile health technologies, musculoskeletal MR imaging, and clinical trials.

DPT students

BU DPT students interested in contributing to clinical research in our lab are always welcome. If you are a BU DPT student interested in working with us, you will need to maintain a cumulative professional GPA ≥ 3.2, be available for at least 10 hours/week per semester, and intend to continue throughout your DPT program. You will be required to volunteer in the lab for the 1st semester. After the 1st semester, we try to fund students for their work from federal work-study (if available) or grant/internal funding.  

Undergraduate Research Students

We often hire undergraduate students who wish to gain research experience. Usually, these students want to go on to graduate school (MS, MD, PhD, etc.). If you are a BU undergraduate interested in working with us, you will need to maintain a cumulative GPA ≥ 3.4, be available for at least 10 hours/week per semester, and intend to continue for at least 4-semesters. You will be required to volunteer in the lab for the 1st semester. After the 1st semester, we try to fund students via the BU UROP , federal work-study (if available) or grant/internal funding, including full-time work over the summer. It is also possible to do research for course credits. Science and engineering majors are preferred.
