Dennis Jones, PhD

Dennis grew up in Collins, MS and attended Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA. As an undergraduate, he became interested in biomedical research and later completed doctoral training in the Immunobiology Department at Yale University under the guidance of Wang Min, PhD (Professor of Pathology). Dennis was a postdoctoral fellow in the Radiation Oncology Department at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH)/Harvard Medical School in the laboratory of Dr. Timothy Padera, PhD (Associate Professor of Radiation Oncology). In his free time, Dennis enjoys traveling, reading and sports.

 

 

 

Guillermo Arroyo-Ataz M.S.
PiBS graduate student

Guillermo is from Madrid (Spain), where he graduated in biotechnology from the Universidad Francisco de Vitoria. During his undergraduate studies, he developed an interest in immunology, regeneration and novel therapies, which led him to pursue the MSc Genes, Drugs and Stem Cells at Imperial College London. He is also interested in multidisciplinary approaches and earned an MSc in Biophysics at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and has carried out multiple projects in biomedical engineering labs. In his free time, Guillermo enjoys visiting the MFA, hiking, and reading.

 

 

 

Samir Jana Ph.D.
Postdoctoral Fellow
Samir is from Kolkata, India. He completed his postgraduate studies in Molecular biology and biotechnology from University of Kalyani, India. He pursued PhD from University of Calcutta and worked on the thesis topic regulation of miRNA in breast cancer growth and metastasis. Samir came to the USA to further for postdoctoral research at City of Hope, California and worked on ER stress/autophagy pathway and chemo sensitization of breast cancer. Samir enjoys travelling, photography, cooking and playing cricket.

 


Zixiong Wang

Zixiong (Mervin) was born in Shenyang, China. He moved to the U.S. and attended The Rectory School in Pomfret, CT at age fourteen; and graduated high school from The New Hampton School in New Hampton, NH. Mervin is graduated Boston University, where he majored in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology. Mervin plays golf in his free time and loves to watch Korean dramas.

Research Assistant

Zahra is from Tehran, Iran and graduated wtih a master’s degree in Physiology from the University of Tehran and a master’s degree in Health Care Administration from Worcester State University. She is a research assistant in the Jones Laboratory and student intern in the Department of Pathology and Lab Medicine at the Boston Medical Center. In her free time, she enjoys reading, hiking, dancing and cooking.

 

 

 

Tony Muscarella B.S.

Tony grew up in West Palm Beach, Florida. He attended the Harriet L Wilkes Honors College at Florida Atlantic University. He graduated in 2019 with his BS in Biology. Tonys love of cancer biology and immunology developed when he worked in the Hartmann lab at FAU where he studied the synergistic effects of 3-Bromopyruvate and Fenofibrate on cancer cytotoxicity. Tony graduated from the Boston University MAMS graduate program in 2021 and is now a research associate at Sanofi. In his free time, Tony loves hiking, cooking, and weight lifting.

POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE

The Jones Laboratory at the Boston University School of Medicine is currently seeking postdoctoral applicants for exciting projects investigating tissue-specific mechanisms of tumor-induced immunosuppression.

The primary responsibilities of the postdoctoral associate are to independently design and execute research experiments to study mechanisms of immune escape and suppression in the metastatic tumor microenvironment, including characterization and targeting of immune suppressive cell types and pathways.

Candidates with a strong research track record, background in immunology and cancer biology, as well as experience with animal models are preferred.

Required Skills

Individuals must have a Ph.D. and/or M.D., appropriate research experience, strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills and be prepared to work as part of a team.

Candidates with a strong research track record, background in immunology and cancer biology, as well as experience with animal models are preferred.

Experience in the following technical areas is preferred: molecular biology, immunological assays, biochemistry, imaging and murine models of cancer.
