Research Interests & Fieldwork

I am interested in human subsistence behavior and how that plays into other aspects of culture, group structure, and landscape. In particular, I find the development and spread of agriculture in the Southeastern United States to be a fascinating opportunity to study why and how cultivation comes about and subsequently the ways in which this shift in foodways affects group structure and interaction with landscape.
