Dr. Uwem Ekanem is a surgeon and Community (Public) Health Physician at the University of Uyo teaching hospital in Nigeria. She is currently serving as an honorary Senior Consultant to Department of Community Health at Uyo Teaching Hospital, where she was the former division head. She is the current president of the Medical Women’s Association, Akwa Iborn State Branch, Nigeria, and a national facilitator for the Integrated Management of Childhood Illness and Women and Children’s services. In May 2016, Dr. Ekanem was named the Director of the newly created Population-Based Cancer Registry of Uyo.
