My work in the Cognitive Neuroimaging Laboratory focused on determining what brain regions are responsible for separating overlapping memories. I have shown that the hippocampus is involved when learning and retrieving non-spatial overlapping and non-overlapping sequences. Additionally, I have shown that the hippocampus is more strongly functionally connected to the orbitofrontal cortex and striatum when making context dependent decisions. Currently, I am working on determining how Parkinson’s Disease changes the brain when making context dependent decisions. I am also working on examining brain regions responsible for the encoding, maintenance, and retrieval of the same face seen with varying emotional expressions during working memory. Additionally, I am working on comparing brain activity when retrieving discontinuous associations made close together versus farther apart in time.
